Work-life balance directive

Work-life balance directive (Directive (EU) 2019/1158 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on work-life balance for parents and carers and repealing Council Directive 2010/18/EU) enters into force today, it aims to increase the participation of women in the labour market, to increase the take-up of family-related leave and flexible working arrangements by men, provide opportunities for workers to be granted leave to care for relatives who need support. EU members states have to transpose the provisions into national law by 2 August 2022.
