Final online conference, on 24 November 2020, marked Equal pay day that was in November, the day when women symbolically stop getting paid compared to their male colleagues for the same job.
At the beginning, Ombudsperson gave information about salary levels and cause of gender pay and pension gap in Croatia and presented project activities, with emphasis on strategy document – national legal framework about standards, measures and actions for achieving gender equality in the labour market and in pension system in aim to combat women poverty. Document will be published till the end of the project. The most important aspects of the document are pay transparency, decreasing horizontal and vertical segregation, equal parenting, availability of elderly care and child care, improvement of collecting, processing and dissemination of data.
Representatives of partners’ organization held presentations. Josip Šipić, Institute for Social Research in Zagreb, presented research results conducted on population of high school students in vocational schools and representatives of public and private companies; Anamarija Tkalčec, CESI – Centre for Education, Counselling and Research, presented conclusions from workshop in Osijek, Split, Zagreb and Rijeka; Jasna Petrović, Retired Persons’ Trade Union of Croatia, talked about activities for tackling the gender pension gap and Hildegard van Hove, Institute for the Equality of Women and Men (Belgium), presented information about gender pay and pension gap in Belgium via video.
Also, video statements made by representatives of supporting bodies were shown: Josip Aladrović (Minister of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy), Radovan Fuchs (Minister of Science and Education), Lidija Brković (Director General of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics), Željka Josić (State Secretary of the State Office for Demography and Youth) and representatives of international organizations: Sandra Konstatzky (Ombud for Equal Treatment, Austria), Tena Šimonović Einwalter, (Deputy Ombudswoman and Chair of the Executive Board of Equinet), Magnus Berge (Senior Specialist at the International Labour Organization (Office for Central and Eastern Europe)), Luca Visentini (General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC)) and Agostino Siciliano (General Secretary of European Federation of Retired and Elderly People).
After conference, performance “Prevention is better than cure” was shown, directed by Mario Kovač, dramaturgy and text: Petra Radin, actors: Branka Cvitković, Dušan Gojić, Gordana Gadžić i Mario Kovač.
